Along the extended 24-hour format, Kraak festival 2019 highlights the ever-growing community of music enthusiasts at its core.
A shared music experience and a strong sense of togetherness among music makers, producers and supporters have been starting points in the collective curation of this year’s festival. The extensive programme consisting of 18 acts and two DJ sets has been put together by the group of collaborators and D.I.Y. stakeholders, who have been sharing and discussing music over a period of six months: Ernesto Gonzalez, Dieter Durinck, Gustave Demoen, Lizzy Vandierendonck, Maarten Raskin, Matthieu Levet, Niels Verougstraete, Sebastiaan Willemen, Victor Van Wassenhove, Pauwel de Buck and myself. This enriching process of learning, negotiating and presenting new music has shaped the upcoming festival as an exploratory and adventurous avant-garde gesture in the contemporary off-stream landscape.
